The Joint Commission has posted Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) addressing the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG). The much anticipated FAQs have been updated to include changes made to the NPSGs with the release of the 2009 goals earlier this month.  

 
Hospital staffing numbers affect MRSA rates

According to a study by Australian researchers, overcrowded and understaffed hospitals are faced with increased rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the Washington Post reports.

A North Carolina hospital, threatened with loss of CMS certification, was able to improve upon issues in its pharmaceutical and respiratory services departments to prevent loss of certification and federal funding, the News Observer reports.
