AHIMA Acquires HCPro

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) today announced that it acquired HCPro and its associated brands from Simplify Compliance. HCPro is an industry leader in integrated information, education, training, and consulting products and services in healthcare compliance and revenue cycle management. The acquisition broadens the reach of both organizations.

“The AHIMA Board has been strategically seeking ways to broaden our impact. This acquisition truly complements our vision as both AHIMA and HCPro are focused on improving healthcare through knowledge,” said AHIMA President/Chair of the Board Jennifer Mueller, MBA, RHIA, SHIMSS, FACHE, FAHIMA. “Adding HCPro to the AHIMA family deepens our expertise, gives us greater agility, and enables us to bring new solutions and services to the healthcare market more quickly.”

AHIMA will operate HCPro as a for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary, enabling the organization to remain focused on caring for its clients.

“We are thrilled to join the AHIMA family. Our common passion to equip healthcare professionals with information they need to succeed makes us a great fit and, with little overlap in customers, we can truly expand what we offer to our current clients,” said President of HCPro Dave Cella. “The healthcare industry is constantly changing, and our complementary areas of expertise will benefit both HCPro clients and AHIMA members.”

HCPro provides education solutions designed to help healthcare organizations deliver consistent training, achieve compliance, and maximize efficiencies across the revenue cycle, resulting in measurable clinical, quality, and financial improvements. The HCPro family of brands includes DecisionHealth, Association for Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS), National Association for Healthcare Revenue Integrity (NAHRI), and the Association of Home Care Coding & Compliance (AHCC).

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

ACDIS 2022 Conference comes to Orlando, Florida May 2–5 with a new theme: Imagine

The Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS) had a successful return to live programming in 2021 and anticipates another great event May 2–5, 2022, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

ACDIS is encouraging CDI professionals to imagine the possibilities at its 2022 conference focused on the future of CDI in health care. As part of a multifaceted experience, ACDIS has added two new educational opportunities: a track dedicated to outpatient CDI and a masterclass track aimed at professional development—specifically, personal growth, leadership strategies, and interpersonal management skills.

ACDIS is also bringing together a lineup of exciting keynote speakers. Best-selling author and improv performer Judi Holler kicks off day 2 with an opening session titled “Everyday Improviser: Say Yes & Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities,” giving attendees insight into breaking out of their comfort zones. On the final day, attendees hear the empowering story of Dr. Moogega “Moo” Cooper through her presentation “Limitless: Diversity in STEAM from a Real-Life Guardian of the Galaxy,” combining her experiences as the planetary protection lead of the famed NASA 2020 Mars mission with powerful lessons to help organizations build diversity.

The ACDIS conference provides a space for CDI professionals to network and learn in a world-class resort setting. Breakfast, lunch, snack breaks, and an opening night welcome reception are included with registration. Attendees are also eligible to earn valuable continuing education credits (CEUs) of all types for CCDS, CME, nursing, and more.

ACDIS hosted the first national conference dedicated to CDI professionals and, more than 13 years later, is still the only national conference dedicated to the unique needs of the profession.

“There is no event like the ACDIS national conference, and we’re thrilled to be returning to the stage in 2022,” says ACDIS Director Brian Murphy. “Imagine the possibilities—growing your leadership skills, sharpening your record reviews, expanding into outpatient CDI, and learning from the best and brightest CDI minds in the nation. I know you’ll leave inspired and energized to grow in your CDI career!”

Attendees can take advantage of early bird savings on a main conference registration through February 28, 2022. Attendees can also choose to attend preconference boot camps May 1–2, 2022, titled The Physician Advisor’s Role in CDI, Outpatient CDI Expansion: Getting Started, and Coding Essentials for Non-Coders. ACDIS members save an additional $100, and group discounts are available for teams of 5 or more.

HealthLeaders, a leading healthcare media brand, expands into the pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets

HealthLeaders, an HCPro brand, is expanding its digital news and networking offerings into the pharma market with the launch of its pharmaceutical newsletter on March 30. The launch aligns with the brand’s strategy to expand its coverage and resources for healthcare executives and professionals to better meet readers’ business information needs.

With the emergence of value-based care and technological advancements, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies must work with healthcare providers, as well as regulators, payers, and patients, on ensuring the availability and affordability of new and existing therapies for improved patient outcomes.

The newsletter focuses on how the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are working to engage with healthcare providers, and covers topics such as M&A activity, digital therapeutics, innovative technology, precision medicine, regulatory policy, drug pricing, clinical trials, and more.

“The new vertical will provide insightful news and in-depth analyses on the developments and trends impacting the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. It comes as the lines that define all healthcare industry segments have blurred in recent years. It also comes as the intersection of healthcare providers and biotechnology is becoming narrower, as they navigate the digital and technology space to enhance healthcare,” says Ana Mulero, contributing editor.

HealthLeaders seeks to help pharmaceutical and biotechnology executives stay on top of these impactful trends shaping health care with analyses, insights, and a solutions-based focus.

HCPro’s NAHRI celebrates 5th annual Revenue Integrity Week June 6–10, 2022, to… recognize and advance the revenue integrity

As the revenue integrity profession continues to grow, the National Association of Healthcare Revenue Integrity (NAHRI) community recognizes the positive impact these professionals have on compliance and financial outcomes. To recognize this impact, NAHRI is excited to host its 5th annual Revenue Integrity Week June 6‒10, 2022.

This week of national recognition is a time to:

  • Acknowledge the unique and valuable contributions of revenue integrity professionals in the healthcare setting.
  • Increase public awareness of the revenue integrity profession.
  • Celebrate the diligence and dedication of revenue integrity professionals.

“Revenue Integrity Week is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of revenue integrity professionals and the critical contributions they make to healthcare organizations,” says Nicole Votta, director of NAHRI. “To help elevate the profession, NAHRI will be offering free resources, education, research reports, and exclusive discounts throughout Revenue Integrity Week.”

This year’s theme is “The Art of Revenue Integrity: Unleash Your Creative Spark.” The association is providing a downloadable toolkit, which includes posters, logos, activities, fact sheets, and more, to help healthcare organizations plan their own Revenue Integrity Week celebration. For more information, visit https://nahri.org/ri-week/revenue-integrity-week.

NAHRI is committed to helping revenue integrity professionals excel in their roles and elevate the profession. The basis of the revenue integrity profession is to prevent the recurrence of issues that can cause revenue leakage and/or compliance risks through effective, efficient, replicable processes and internal controls across the continuum of patient care. In essence, revenue integrity professionals help ensure compliance in billing and documentation by performing chargemaster maintenance, reviewing charges, and applying sound financial practices to withstand audits at any time.

As part of the Revenue Integrity Week celebration, you can nominate a peer to thank him or her for his or her valuable contributions to the field and for the ways he or she has helped others at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3GFKZCB.

Certificates of recognition will be distributed to all who are nominated and will be published on the NAHRI website, in the Revenue Integrity Insider, and in NAHRI Journal. All nominees and nominators will be entered into a drawing, with the winners announced June 6–10. (See contest rules)
